The theme for this year’s Advent and Christmas Season is “Prepare.” At this time of year, we listen for the spoken scripture, and we get ready for reflection and celebration.
The first Advent painting is about how we allow ourselves to feel the sound waves, breathing new life into an ancient story of the coming of Christ.
Attention is the beginning of devotion.
Mary Oliver
Poet Mary Oliver points out how we can focus. The story of the Christ child can be found when we look inward. Our hearts open to Christ’s love.
A voice cries: In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isaiah 40:3
Prepare the Way is a painting about preparing for and searching for the way forward. How do we live Christ’s way?
All will receive the Light.
The Christmas Eve painting is to Prepare Him Room. Our beloved Christ is among us. We will hear the words, feel with our hearts, open the way, receive the good news, and prepare Christ room in the depths of our challenges and peaks of the triumphs of our lives.
The star of Bethlehem guides us onward, as it did the wise men on Epiphany who came to pay homage to the Prince of Peace.
Jesus reaches through time and space to touch our lives. All of us star dust. All a part of God’s creation.
I poured a lot of time and love into this special painting for my church. If you’d like to have a reminder of the spirit of Christmas throughout the year, this original painting will be available to own following Epiphany. Contact me here.
