Come See Me Sunday, June 7, for Art and Roses 2026!

Absolutely! Time to get excited to visit the Art and Roses Festival at Julia Davis Park, next to the Boise Art Museum and Rose Garden downtown on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

The Festival hours are 10 AM to 5 PM, and there will be over a hundred local artists and vendors to check out. I will be at booth #34, which is the 14th booth on the left side as you enter the show.

I will be showing my exclusive carved paintings, made by burning, carving, and painting wood to create truly unique, genuine, handmade, and heartfelt pieces.

Here’s a look at some of the works I will be showing:

Bright Flicker at Dawn

Bright Flicker at Dawn, Ink on carved African mahogany. 14.75″ x 20.25″ $399

For me, this carved painting is about difficult times, like the darkest of nights, slowly but intently giving way to the resolute hope of sunrise.

Understanding the tough challenges of our times is like the flicker bird being revealed, with glowing power in her plumage. There’s hope that she will take flight when the light returns to the new morning sky!

Joy When You Trust

Joy When You Trust. 16″ x 24″ $399

For me, this painting symbolizes chaotic joy in its rainbow colors with the periwinkle containing it in blissful shapes. The periwinkle is like stabilizing trust in the good and nurturing energy of the universe, giving form, solidity, and meaning to a powerful emotion.

It’s sometimes risky to trust in yourself, or in the world around you, or in the Divine, but it makes way for joy to arrive, sometimes unexpectedly!

Conclusion

In this post, I’ve shared some of my thoughts about darkness, hope, trust, and joy from work that was born of my association with my church, Boise First United Church of Christ, as the Artist in Residence.

It’s true that beng Artist in Residence provides focus for my artwork, and there will be other work about nature and other ideas displayed in my booth at the Art and Roses Festival.

But don’t take my word for it about the meaning of my artwork, or any artwork! Isn’t it a beautiful thing that every person experiences artwork and everything in life in their own way?

If you want to connect with me artistically by actually making art, I will be offering a Relief Printmaking Class at Catalyst Arts Collaborative on August 1st, 2026 from 10:30 AM-1:30 PM. Stay tuned – I will be advertising it at the show!

I do hope to see you again at the Art and Roses Festival. I love to share my artwork and hear your own thoughts about it and what art means to you!

Thank you for supporting the arts!
