The Easter story inspired this carved painting.

Mary Magdalene went to Jesus’ tomb while it was still dark in the morning to care for his body with spices. She saw that the heavy stone sealing the tomb had been rolled away!

She ran to tell Peter and John that the body was missing. Mary stayed outside the tomb crying, looking inside to see two angels. She turned around and saw Jesus, but did not know it was him, thinking he was the gardener. Jesus spoke her name (“Mary”), and she immediately knew his voice and replied “Rabboni” (teacher).

This carved painting shows the very earth and sky rejoicing on Easter morning!

It was unveiled to the congregation of Boise First Congregational United Church of Christ on Easter morning 2026.
