River is my first successful encaustic painting combining ink and burning and carving to the list of techniques. Wildlife in my city, Boise, Idaho, specifically around the  the Boise River, is under attack with all of its urban development pushing into once-wild spaces. Because of human population growth, wildlife is displaced and marginalized. This painting, like Kingfisher, Heron, and Kestrel, celebrates precious nature and natural spaces as they struggle with human-made spaces to exist together.
