Spotlight on Robert Goetting: A California-Based Impressionist

Robert Goetting was one of my earliest and most supportive fellow artists I encountered on Instagram.

He has been a professional California artist for over 30 years.

Bob is a master of color and light. A modern-day Impressionist. The paintings of his that really speak to me are those that have variations of spectrum within limited color families.

“Prayer Candles” Robert Goetting

Bob knows how to make the subtle differences sing.

“Sienese Rooftops” Robert Goetting

Bob paints what he sees. And often he chooses outdoor European landscapes. His interpretations are unique.

“Crunchy Gondolas” Robert Goetting

Sometimes, Bob uses complementary colors powerfully, sometimes with differences of light, sometimes both.

“Falluca at Dusk” Robert Goetting

These choices are studied, yet incredibly playful in their focus, and they are delightful.

Conclusion

As an ardent follower of Bob’s work, I develop sensitivities from his use of color, light, and playfulness.

Bob is also incredibly supportive of my own work, and expresses himself when he appreciates my art. This support and encouragement really makes a difference, as I know that what I produce gets experienced eyes to give feedback when I’m successful.
